This will turn out to be the clearest shot that we get of Haleakala. Also, these people in the background are doing what most people consider biking in Maui - riding about 30 miles downhill from about 6000 feet on Haleakala.

April 5 - A Tour of Makawao and Haiku
This was our first day so we wanted to get some supplies from the bike shop - CO2, map etc. We visited Maui Cyclery in Haiku and we arrived via Makawao and a dozen meandering back roads. This turned out to be a very enjoyable ride, howevr. The roads were narrow but traffic was lite. Some of the roads were well shaded. There was a surprising amount of climbing and descending involved also.
This will turn out to be the clearest shot that we get of Haleakala. Also, these people in the background are doing what most people consider biking in Maui - riding about 30 miles downhill from about 6000 feet on Haleakala.
